The Historic Ashley High Gymnasium – A dream – The Willpower to Bring it to life.
This is the start of the Story of Olio’s LLC. In Early January of 2016 new ownership took over the lease of the site where Rodi Med American Grill once operated.
With fresh new paint and color inside the restaurant, to the funky listening lounge at the end of the bar with a vintage turntable unit and lps, Olio’s will offer its returning customers and NEW ones something different in Gastonia.
You will walk in and let your eyes feast on the art work for sale from wall to wall, shop through the small shop at the entrance for locally made gifts, amongst many other exciting things to look at. How sbout the up and coming in the spring fresh market at the front door area where you can buy in house made jams, jellies and marmalades, spice pouches, fresh salt mixes, fresh breads and rolls by our inhouse patissier, and seasonal fruits and veggies when available.
Fantastic the place is Awesome. The food is very good and the Chef Marty Esposito is Fantastic. And will make you what you want. And they have gluten free and low carb and lots of desert. Love the home made potato chips.
The portions were very generous and enough for my husband and I to share. Atmosphere was nice with live music. Wasn’t too busy and crowded. We will definitely be back.
I find that if we go with a larger party during the busy times our food doesn’t all come out together. The servers change out often as well and sometimes are not as happy as other restaurants in the area. Overall the food is really good and the restaurant itself is very clean. I will still go on days they aren’t busy and for the prime rib special. Which is always thick and tender, I do recommend going early if you prefer medium rare.
